11.04 CMJ Day 6, Foundry Field Recordings @ Crash Mansion

I did my best to get decent pictures of this talented band from the Midwest but the room was pitch black and I didn’t have a flare gun with me. Missouri’s Foundry Field Recordings band have got an excellent debut album out called Prompts/Miscues that should appeal to fans of quality indie like the Flaming Lips or Wilco.

Tiombe’s has got a ton charisma, a sexy voice and a skilled band backing her up. ‘07 might be a big year for this crew.

11.04 CMJ Day 6, Malajube @ Fader Side Show

I first heard Malajube on a compilation CD I got down at South by Southwest and before they hit the stage I was expecting a much more laid back show than it turned out to be. The band’s actually pretty energetic live and their lush, vibrant sound went over well with the packed crowd. I’ve need to get back up to Montreal soon because it seems like one killer band after another coming from up there.
