On the positive side, New Zealand’s Checks performed with a ton of energy (like most bands from down under), but the tunes were pretty weak overall - mostly just by the numbers cut and paste rehashes of better Garage & Brit-Pop songs. Some potential here, but I wasn’t feeling’ it.

My pick for band of the day on Friday was Nashville’s “Neo-Soul” practitioners Turbo Fruits. They unleashed relentless, grimy, raw, fuzzed out punk & played with great energy . Definitely check the Turbo Fruits when they come your way.
